EMR/Nurse – EMT Hybrid Bridge Course

Online learning at your individual pace, with an interactive program that has many different modules to meet your learning style.  Full access for 2 years and/or a download.              

EMS professionals are available to answer/educate each student over the phone, email, and In person Lab sessions.  We are here to give you the best educational EMS experience with the course, clinical and labs.  To become an assist in the EMS work force prepared for employment on a Ambulance, the Emergency Department, Medical Event Coverage or with a Transportation Service.

 EMR/Nurse – EMT Hybrid Bridge Course:                            

  • Monday and Thursday’s; 5:30-9:30 PM for Lab sessions
  • Day, Evenings, and Weekend sessions
  • Minimum age of 16 years old to begin this program is recommended.

LAB Sessions Dates:

Bridge Course starts June 20th, 24th, 27th, July 1st, (OFF the 4th), 8th, 11th, 15th, 18th, 22nd, 25th- Exam.

AHA BLS CPR course in class included in the Lab, no extra fee. 

You DO NOT need to have the online work completed prior to the Lab dates.   The Online work can be completed while in the course prior to each lab.

The EMR/Nurse to EMT Hybrid course is for EMR’s/Nurse to reinforce their current status and to gain more knowledge in becoming an EMT.

Students will be taught to recognize, safely assess, as well as effectively manage crisis situations and patients of an emergency nature encountered in the field Pre-hospital setting. EMT’s can work in areas such as an Ambulance driver, Emergency Department, Clinic, EMS team for Fire, Police departments, Event work, and Transportation drivers.

The EMT Hybrid course is based on Minnesota & National EMS Education Standards that will govern the way that you learn and practice EMS. Additionally, this course meets the current American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and ECC. emergency medical training center

EMR/Nurse-EMT Bridge Course includes:

  1. AHA BLS CPR course in class
  2. Background check
  3. Clinical (10+) Patient contacts in a variety of EMS locations.  (NOT SCENARIOS but LIVE PATIENTS). Ambulance North Metro/Rural, Clinics, Emergency Departments, Event coverage around the Twin Cites, and Transportation services.  We have contracts with EMS companies so students can have the MOST effective learning with their newly acquired skills on REAL LIFE EMS EMERGENCIES.
  4. Lab classroom 50 + hours with EMS educators with years of EMS experience; Guest speakers.
  5. Online access for 2 years and/or a download.  100+ hours Online program with Audio, eText, Multimedia w Videos and 3D images, Quizzes/Tests, Flashcards.  You can access this program from Blackboard Learn, Bright space by D2L, Canvas, or Moodle.
  6. Access to Educational videos for additional learning.
  7. Written and Psychomotor Skills exam with a FREE 2nd attempt.
  8. SAVE A LIFE includes a POLO Uniform shift /Badge to be worn in class and at students Clinical.
  9. Vitals supplies to be used in Lab sessions and to bring with at the students Clinical Patient contacts.

Bring to the fist class:

  • Laptop to redeem your eCode for the online and eText. If not already redeemed.1.
  • A current copy of your EMR Certification card.
  • If the AHA BLS CPR card is current please bring it to class; then you will not need to complete our course

Additional fees:
1. Required classroom uniform: SAL polo, and or white short/long-sleeved dress shirt. EMT black or navy dress pants. EMS boots or black shoes for the classroom.
2. Clinical uniform: Every student is required to wear SAVE A LIFE polo, EMT, or 511 pants and EMS boots.
3. NREMT exam to be paid at the examination station of your choice. $80-100. Exam Type: Computer Adaptive, Questions: 70-120, Time Limit: 2 hours.
4. A paper textbook can be purchased for an additional fee.

The student will receive:
1. Eligibility to take the National Registry’s Emergency Medical Technician exam. home,pearsonvue.com/nremt
2. After passing the NREMT exam you can fill out an application for the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board Certified valid for 2 years.

MN Board Peace Officer Post approved. CEs are obtained with classroom attendance.
